Date: Wednesday May 22nd 10:00 – 13:00 (arrival and registration from 09:30)
Venue: Coleg y Cymoedd, Nantgarw Campus, CF15 7QY

The 2019 Leading Wales Awards open for nominations on 9th April. This year we are seeking nominations of individuals in Wales (in all sectors and at all levels of responsibility) whose leadership is courageous, inspirational and transformational. Individuals who are “Daring to Lead® in Wales”.

On May 22nd, we are delighted to welcome (with the support of Engage for Success Wales) Iain Jardine and his colleagues to lead Mission: Engagement, and we are asking you if you dare to lead a simulated military mission in Wales?

This is an interactive event where participants learn, through experience, the best practices in Team Engagement from Military Operations. It aims are to explore:

  1. Engaging Leadership vs Command and Control
  2. Information sharing to empower teams
  3. Kolb Learning Cycle: why military aviators debrief after every mission to achieve and maintain peak performance

Attendees will take part in planning a simulated military mission as a team. During this mission, engagement techniques will come to the fore. With lives depending on them and under time pressure, participants will have to work as a team to achieve the Mission. The morning concludes with the Mission Debrief, and articulation of what has been learnt and can be carried forward into your own team and places of work.

Here is some pre-event thinking for you as well: The Institute of Leadership & Management have identified 49 components of leadership. Test yourself on one of these components, Self-Awareness, for FREE.  CLICK HERE to find out how you stack up.

Booking information: You may book as:

  2. An individual and we will place you into a team.
  3. There is a small charge of £10.19 per head to cover expenses, payable (per person) as you book

If you book for this event, it is essential to commit to attending or, in exceptional circumstances, finding an alternate.

Passionate about team engagement, Iain Jardine has over 16 years’ experience as an Officer, Helicopter Pilot, Instructor and Performance Coach in the Royal Navy. As well as serving on operations around the globe as a Merlin Helicopter Pilot flying from warships at sea, he has trained Military Helicopter Pilots for the Royal Navy, British Army and RAF.  He also served as an Instructor at the Britannia Royal Naval College, instructing and coaching future military leaders for the UK and International Naval Forces.  Iain and his team of former Military Officers are now sharing the lessons they’ve learnt about team engagement with public and private sector organisations through Mission: Engagement.

With thanks to Coleg y Cymoedd.
