Nominations for the 14th Leading Wales Awards open on Monday 9th April, closing at midnight on Friday 1st June.

“This year we are seeking nominations of individuals whose leadership is truly outstanding, inspiring and motivating” commented Barbara Chidgey, Executive Chair of the Awards. “We are looking for individuals whose leadership is helping transform Welsh organisations and ways of working i.e. leadership that is contributing to delivering the goals of the Well-being of Future Generations in Wales.”

There are seven categories to choose from for identifying and recognising individuals whose leadership is outstanding, inspiring and transforming. One of the key messages of The Leading Wales Awards is that leadership is at all levels in an organisation irrespective of hierarchical role and responsibilities. Nominees may be a volunteer, core worker, manager or executive in Wales. “New this year, is an organisational award “Inspiring great leadership”. We really want to identify, recognise and celebrate organisations in Wales, in any sector, that are leading the way in how they engage and develop their individual employees, directors and trustees. In other words, organisations playing a key role in helping develop the next generation of leaders in Wales.”

The 2018 Leading Wales Awards are presented in association with The Institute of Leadership & Management who are also supporting the new organisational award. Phil James, CEO at the Institute of Leadership & Management, added:
“As the professional membership body for leaders, managers, coaches and mentors, The Institute of Leadership and Management are thrilled to partner once again with the Leading Wales as headline sponsors for 2018. The Awards are a jewel in the crown for organisations in Wales and a brilliant source of inspiration for leaders and managers everywhere.”

Ben Cottam, Head of External Affairs, FSB Wales added: “Leadership is a crucial aspect in the life of any organisation or any individual. Effective leadership is a differentiating factor and it is clear and recognisable in all of the most successful businesses. Developing leadership ability and culture is therefore an essential part of plotting the growth and success of any organisation and in ensuring the positive impact of that organisation on the community around it”

The Leading Wales Awards were developed by a consortium of professional institutes, voluntary and public sector bodies as well as private companies. They seek to identify, recognise and celebrate personal achievement in outstanding leadership in Wales. The organisations within the consortium share a passionate and professional belief that outstanding leadership (in all sectors) is the key driver of the growth of the economy of Wales.
